Kutless
KUTLESS
by: Tim Hiehle

For those looking for heavier Christian rock but are not attracted to the post-hardcore genre, Kutless is well recieved. Characterized by sometimes in-your-face overdriven guitars and vocals similar to the category of alternative rock, this album can immediatly be likened to the musical vibe displayed by Nicleback and Alter Bridge. Kutless attains hte flair of melodic nu-metal music with its intricate guitar lines, energizing drumming and continuously chestpounding bass. This album's hard, upbeat tracks such as "Your Touch","In Me", the rap infused "Pride Away", and perhaps the most noticeable "Tonight" is contrasted with deeper, more mellow songs like "Grace and Love" and "Again" make for a more balanced record. Kutless has suceeded in covering all the based with their self-titled album, including mastery of therapy rock with thier uplifting and thought provoking numbers "Down","This Time", and "Dry". Kutless has captured the essence for raw rock energy and force while making clear their relationship with God and its importance without falling victim to the diluted to overlook as their freshman album is to stop listening to.
